THREADRIG / PRIVACY
Privacy
A local workspace. A clear account of what leaves it.
Last updated: October 2, 2026
The short version
There is no ThreadRig account. The app has no third-party analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDK. Your installed CLIs connect to AI providers using your own accounts.
ThreadRig makes some network requests of its own. They are listed below, including two optional features that are off by default.
What stays on your Mac
Your projects and isolated thread worktrees stay on your Mac. Code indexing and semantic search use Apple’s NaturalLanguage framework locally by default.
What goes to AI providers
Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI send the prompts, code and context needed for your requests to their providers under your accounts and the providers’ terms.
ThreadRig does not store your AI API keys. The CLIs manage their own local authentication.
Network requests ThreadRig itself makes
-
Update checks
The app fetches a release feed,
appcast.json, without adding user or system telemetry or identifiers. Turn automatic checks off in Settings → Updates. -
Website icons
Pinned-site icons are requested from the site itself. If those requests fail, the app uses Google’s favicon service, passing the site’s hostname.
-
Claude usage limits
The app queries Anthropic’s official OAuth usage endpoint to display Claude usage limits.
-
Optional usage sharing
Usage sharing is off by default. It requires signing in to the optional usage service and enabling “Share usage analytics” in Settings → Usage. Requests include token counts, hashed identifiers and the project folder’s short name, never code, prompts or responses. The service also checks your signed-in identity.
-
Optional push notifications
Push notifications are off by default. If you turn them on in Settings, a short excerpt of the agent’s reply is delivered through ntfy.sh, on a topic generated randomly for your installation.
What ThreadRig stores on disk

CLI credentials remain in the locations managed by each CLI: Claude
Code’s macOS Keychain entry, Codex’s
~/.codex/auth.json and Gemini’s
~/.gemini directory.
