Where Cursor fits

Cursor offers an editor, model choice and cloud agents. It has both free and paid plans. If you want editing and agents in Cursor’s environment, it is a strong fit. See Cursor’s product overview and current plans.

What both can do

Both support parallel agent work, isolated Git worktrees and reviewing changes before bringing them back to your project. Cursor documents this in its worktree workflow; these capabilities are not exclusive to ThreadRig.

Why choose ThreadRig?

  • Your own CLIs. Run Claude Code, Codex and Gemini together using their own accounts and authentication.
  • A Mac workspace. Keep conversations, browser, editor, tasks and diffs together while independent threads work in their own worktrees.
  • Your own execution environment. Use your Mac or configure a server you manage.
  • No ThreadRig subscription. The app is free; AI provider charges are separate.

What ThreadRig doesn’t do

ThreadRig does not provide hosted cloud sandboxes or bundle model usage. It is not a replacement for Cursor’s full editor workflow. Choose it when coordinating your existing CLIs matters more than keeping everything inside Cursor.

Switch in 5 minutes

With Git and a supported CLI already installed, setup is short. First-time CLI installation or sign-in may take longer.

  1. Download ThreadRig

Open the DMG and drag ThreadRig into Applications.

  2. Open your repository

Press ⌘N and choose your local project folder.

  3. Sign in to your CLIs

Use each CLI’s own sign-in flow, then start a thread. Ask it to split independent work into parallel threads and review the changes before merging.

A few useful answers

What does ThreadRig cost?

The Mac app is free. AI subscriptions and API usage are paid through your own provider accounts; they are not included.

Where does my code go?

Your project runs on your Mac, or on your own server if you configure one. Your CLIs send prompts and relevant code to their AI providers under your accounts. See the privacy policy for ThreadRig’s storage and network requests.

Which CLIs can I use?

Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI. Install and sign in to at least one; you can use different engines for different threads.
